This week, three shootings took place at schools in Texas, New Orleans, and Kentucky. Far too many students were killed and injured. Our hearts go out to the families of those who were killed, but as we all know, thoughts and prayers don't change legislation. Advocacy does. Gun safety legislation can come from municipalities, states, and the federal government. Just this week, Denver City Council passed a measure that will make it illegal to sell, carry, store or possess bump stocks. Here are a handful of organizations to look to for leadership on issues of gun safety -- and many of them have local chapters. Yesterday, President Trump sent yet another ripple of intolerance around the world after complaining about people from Haiti and Africa and asking why the United States should accept immigrants from "shithole countries." We are deeply disappointed and call on the President to apologize and denounce his remarks. See the full newsletter here: http://mailchi.mp/risestronger/us-resistance-1-12-18
